Looking & Finding, Found Images
This series of images features details of architectural drawings gleaned from 1960s Japanese lifestyle magazines. These images present a series of idealised domestic spaces in a style that at once recalls pop art (explicit foregrounding of Benday dots, intensified use of colour etc.) while communicating a culturally and historically specific utopian vision. The spaces pictured present an effortless melding of traditional Japanese architecture with Western modernism. These images appear as blueprints to a possible future, which may or may not have arrived.
